LaLaport Bon Odori 2026 Returns for Week 2 on 8 and 9 August
LaLaport Bon Odori 2026 heads into its second weekend at LaLaport BBCC, Kuala Lumpur, on 8 and 9 August 2026. Following a lively Week 1 filled with Bon Odori dances, Japanese performances, festival food, cultural experiences, and cosplay, the event returns with another round of festive activities, shopping rewards, and games for visitors of all ages.
Bon Odori Dances and Cosplay Gatherings
Week 1 saw attendees gathering at the outdoor plaza in kimonos and cosplay outfits, joining Bon Odori dances and themed group activities. The festival atmosphere extended into the evening with live Japanese performances on an elevated outdoor stage, where six performers in matching green plaid outfits entertained a crowd holding glow sticks against a backdrop of anime-themed banners.
Festival Food Stalls and Red Lantern Decor
The outdoor plaza transformed into a Japanese summer festival market, with red lanterns strung overhead and white-and-red tent structures housing food and activity stalls. Visitors walked through the stall-lined walkway, sampling festival food and exploring the cultural experiences on offer throughout the weekend.
Mother Hall Birthday Installation
A themed area called Mother Hall featured red shelves displaying handwritten birthday cards from visitors, with messages in both English and Korean. The installation added an interactive cultural element to the festival, inviting attendees to leave personal notes and greetings.
Evening Stage Performances and Crowds
As dusk settled over the LaLaport complex, crowds gathered around the main stage framed by red banners for evening performances. Attendees captured photos and videos of the festivities, with the modern high-rise mall architecture providing a striking backdrop for the summer festival celebrations.
Week 2 of LaLaport Bon Odori 2026 takes place on 8 and 9 August 2026 at LaLaport BBCC, Kuala Lumpur. Visitors are encouraged to wear yukata or cosplay and bring friends and family for another weekend of Japan's summer festival in the heart of Kuala Lumpur.
