Menya Shishido at LaLaport BBCC brings authentic Japanese Hakata-style ramen to Lower Ground 1 (LG1-15e) beside Jaya Grocer, marking the first Kuala Lumpur location for this acclaimed ramen restaurant that has earned recognition in Petaling Jaya for serving traditional full-bodied Japanese ramen with velvety, slow-cooked broth and perfectly springy noodles. Since opening on November 23rd, 2024, this newest member of the Shishido ramen family has attracted devoted ramen enthusiasts with their commitment to authentic preparation methods and quality ingredients.
The restaurant specializes in traditional Japanese ramen featuring tender chashu pork, fresh scallions, and marinated eggs served in rich, flavorful broths that showcase the depth and complexity of authentic Hakata-style preparation. Signature offerings include their balanced lemon shoyu ramen enhanced with seaweed add-ons that uplift the broth's umami profile, alongside innovative flavor combinations that demonstrate the kitchen's creativity while respecting traditional ramen craftsmanship, ensuring each bowl delivers both familiarity and excitement for noodle enthusiasts.
Operating from 11:00am with last orders at 9:30pm and closed from 3-5pm Monday through Thursday, Menya Shishido offers convenient access to premium ramen within LaLaport BBCC's diverse dining landscape. The restaurant's inaugural promotion offered the first 200 customers VIP tokens with lifetime 10% discounts, demonstrating their commitment to building lasting relationships with the local ramen community while maintaining the quality and affordability that has made the Shishido brand synonymous with exceptional Japanese noodle experiences.
Finally decided to try out after passing by numerous times. Ordered their menki fried rice and 2 taste ramen (black garlic x basil pork soup). Both were good and I especially like the broth which has a strong basil taste. The chasu was serviceable for my liking. A bigger portion of ramen would be nice. Pricing is what you will come to expect from those branded ramen shop. Overall still a great dining experience.

Texture, aroma and taste is very good just the meat too less for the price you pay.
Standard service level for local japanese restaurant.
Atmosphere is just OK, a little bit of Canteen feel.

We had a great time during dinner here after the bon ondori fest on 26 July 2025. Not too long wait time and order via their table pad. Not too sure how to order, their waitress was helpful in guiding us through the menu items. What we ordered were tasteful and broth were to individual liking. Mine was basil base so taste was something like Hakka lei cha, it's actually not overwhelming as still can taste the bone broth. Ramen al dented and you can add any condiments on the table to your liking. Chicken katsu was flavourful and crispy, yum yum. Aircond was not so cold but they do have table fans to help. Waitress were attentive in topping up our green teas and polite.

Ordered the ippon yakibuta double flavour, the meat is too much not able to finish. Overall the quality is maintained. This outlet no need to queue but waiting time for food still more than 20 mins although less customers.

I came here to try the newly released Jiro-kei ramen, and this was my first visit. I have to say it was pretty decent. You can really tell that they put a lot of effort into crafting this bowl, even though it’s not a dedicated Jiro-kei ramen restaurant. Presentation-wise, it looks very identical to what you’d find in Japan. At RM45, I think it’s on the pricier side, but I left feeling satisfied.
Since Jiro-kei preferences vary quite a bit depending on a person, so I won’t dive too deep into the noodle texture, toppings etc… That said, my only real issue was the broth. I personally thought it was not salty enough as a few other ppl have mentioned. With the generous amount of bean sprouts, the soup starts to feel a bit diluted toward the end, so a slightly saltier base might help maintain the flavor balance. The soup is non-emulsified (非乳化), so it’s not overly rich or fatty, which I personally appreciated.
Overall, a great experience. I’m not gonna ask for “mashi-mashi” (extra-large) option since I understand the need to manage costs and keep the business sustainable. But I do hope they eventually offer customization for the amount of garlic and seasoned fat (abura), as I think a richer broth would really elevate the overall experience.
Just the opinion of a Japanese person living in KL!! Looking forward to coming back soon!

Authentic Japanese ramen with a focus on rich, flavorful broths like their popular tonkotsu. Beyond the classics, they're known for experimental options, including the polarizing durian ramen. The ambiance aims for a cozy, Japanese-inspired vibe, and while prices are generally considered HIGH but the quality is comparable. Love their customizable ramen with various flavored oils and soup base. It's a solid option for ramen lovers, like me seeking traditional or adventurous bowls. I prefer their version as compared to the milder taste of Ippudo.
P/S: they give a compliment bowl of ramen and green tea on the EXACT birthday date.

Tasty Ramen broth, flavor on the strong side. Also, lots of varieties of flavors to choose from. Comfortable seating atmosphere. Order using tablet prepared on table, quite interesting and unique experience. But price is on the high side. Will visit again, but I don't think it's viable for frequent visits sadly.

I visited this spot on my birthday to enjoy the free ramen, and it was totally worth it! The broth could be thicker and richer, but it was still good, especially with the garlic provided on the table. The green tea could use a bit more flavor as well. Overall, for a free meal, I’m extremely grateful. Thank you!

6/5 stars! 😝
I can't recommend this place enough. Not only did the staff kindly extend the birthday promotion to me as a non-Malaysian — making it the best and only truly free birthday meal I've ever had in my lifetime as human being (a complimentary ramen and tea!) — but the food here is genuinely outstanding.
As a long-time tsukemen enthusiast, I can confidently say this is the best tsukemen I've had. The yakibutan, in particular, is absolutely mind-blowing!

Okay, here's a Google review based on your lunch at Menya Shishido, LaLaport:
Hidden Gem for a Relaxing Ramen Lunch
Menya Shishido's new outlet at LaLaport is a welcome escape from the usual lunch crowds. The restaurant boasts a beautiful, vintage Japanese design, filled with authentic Japanese props that create a truly immersive atmosphere. The space is huge, clean, and incredibly comfortable, offering a spacious dining experience even during peak hours.
While the menu might be more limited compared to their PJ outlet, the quality of the food shines through. I tried the Mapo Tofu Ramen, which, while a bit oily, was packed with flavor. The stewed pork was a highlight – a massive, tender chunk that melted in my mouth. For a comforting side, the rice bowl with pulled pork slices, egg omelette, and pickled vegetables hit the spot.
One minor drawback was the slightly slow service, but the fact that the food arrived piping hot and freshly prepared more than made up for it. While the prices are a little on the higher side, it's worth remembering that this is authentic Japanese ramen, and still more affordable than what you'd find in Tokyo.
Overall, Menya Shishido LaLaport is a great option if you're looking for delicious ramen in a relaxed and beautifully designed setting. The less crowded atmosphere is a definite plus!
